Penny Robinson Addresses Elder Law Issues at Missouri Bar Annual Meeting
On October 9, our partner Penny Robinson lectured on the topic of elder law issues which can arise within the family law context. Penny co-presented with well-known St. Louis elder law attorney Debra K. Schuster, J.D., M.H.A. Their lecture was presented at the 2015 Missouri Bar Annual Meeting and Judicial Conference as a component of its family law CLE program.
Entitled “Elder Law Issues for the Family Law Practitioner”, the presentation was directed to an audience of Missouri attorneys and addressed legal issues which can converge within the scope of representing individuals on the threshold of social security age and beyond. Some of the issues presented included addressing conflicts between healthcare directives, durable powers of attorney, estate plans and prenuptial agreements; issues of limited or total mental incapacity of the client, and the potential involvement of third parties in the representation; and ethical dilemmas which arise within the scope of such engagements.
Also speaking at the Missouri Bar Annual Meeting was our partner Cary Mogerman, who presented his annual update of the Missouri appellate family law cases.
